President Ilham Aliyev inaugurates Heydar Aliyev Center in Siyazan region - UPDATE - PHOTOS

“Azerbaijani citizen is the basis of our policy. All our work pursues only one goal: to improve the lives of Azerbaijani citizens,” President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with local residents of Siyazan.

"We know well from the media that a second wave of the financial and economic crisis has started in several countries but we see the opposite picture in Azerbaijan.”

“In developed countries, social benefits, social programs are being cut, reduced, salaries are cut, jobs go in state structures. But we can see new jobs being created in Azerbaijan, salaries and pensions are growing, social programs are implemented. There has been no delay or reduction in any social program.

We have also suffered from the crisis. The sharp fall in oil prices in 2008, 2009 and even 2010 created problems for us. But we managed to overcome this situation, since we have already developed the non-oil sector,” the President said.

“Azerbaijan is the world`s leader in terms of socio-economic development rates,” President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with local residents of Siyazan.

“You know that major construction work has been done in Azerbaijan in recent years. Reinvigoration and development can be seen in all regions and projects are implemented. I want work to be done at a high level everywhere in every region. I want people's problems to be rooted out as soon as possible and steps have been taken to that end,” the Head of State added.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday visited the site where Takhtakorpu Water Reservoir and a hydroelectric power station will be constructed. The Reservoire`s total area is 8.7 square kilometres. It contains a total of 268.4 million cubic meters of water.

The reconstruction of the Samur-Absheron irrigation system will considerably improve the water supply to Baku, Sumgayit and Absheron peninsula.

The construction work at the site will complete in the first half of 2013. The President also inspected the construction work at the Takhtakorpu-Jeyranbatan Channel. The channel will be 110.3 km in length, 2m in width and 4m in depth. The facility will also be constructed by the first half of 2013.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday inspected the construction of Valvalachay-Takhtakorpu channel`s 10.7km-long first section.

The construction of the Valvalachay-Takhtakorpu channel is part of a project to reconstruct the Samur-Absheron irrigation system. The project, to be implemented in 4 stages in 14 years, also envisages the construction of Takhtakorpu Water Reservoir and Takhtakorpu-Jeyranbatan Channel.

The construction of the first section of the Valvalachay-Takhtakorpu channel was funded by the Islamic Development Bank. The channel is 31.45km in length, 4m in width and 4.3m in depth. The channel`s capacity is 75 cubic meters of water per second.

The President pushed a button to officially start the channel`s first section. The Head of State was told of the technical features of the channel`s second section, whose construction will be funded by the State Oil Fund. The construction of the second facility will complete in 2012.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday cut a ribbon to officially inaugurate the Shabran Regional Central Hospital.

Health minister Ogtay Shiraliyev informed the President that the construction of the 3-storied facility started in October, 2008. The hospital occupies a total area of 5,117 square meters. The 80-bed facility features a clinics, delivery room, X-ray, surgery and stomatology departments.

The hospital will employ nearly 200-man personnel, including 60 doctors.
The Head of State spoke to local residents and the hospital`s staff members here.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev yesterday cut a ribbon to officially open the redeveloped Children`s Creativity Center in Shabran. The reconstruction of the two-storied Center started in 2010.

The President viewed the Center`s library, which features more than 5,000 books including 500 on children`s literature. The Center now has nearly 2,000 readers.

The Center has a modern reading hall and E-library, which contains nearly 35,000 books. The President praised redevelopment of the Center.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday viewed Mammadagha Nazirov culture and recreation park in Shabran.

The Head of State was informed that the total area of the park is 0.7 hectares. All conditions had been created here for residents` leisure and recreation.

The park got greenery areas, fountains and a spring complex. President Ilham Aliyev viewed a photo stand “Shabran in the Middle Ages”.

The Head of State praised the work done here.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday visited the Culture Center in Shabran to inspect redevelopment work here. The Head of State was told the reconstruction of the center started in 2007. The facility covers a total area of 580 square meters.

Photo stands reflecting care and attention of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to developing culture in Azerbaijan were installed in the building`s foyer.

President Aliyev viewed a 320-seat hall of the center. The Head of State spoke with the Culture Center`s staff and wished them successes.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today cut a ribbon to officially open the redeveloped Museum of History and Local Lore as part of his visit to Shabran.  The President was told the Museum`s collection includes 3,572 exhibits reflecting Shabran`s history and culture.
Most of the exhibits were found during archaeological excavations.

The collection includes examples of Shabran-made carpets among other exhibits.  The Head of State viewed Shabran`s middle age model.  The President praised the redevelopment work in the museum.

The materials, photos and exhibits reflecting the course of life and activity of the national leader Heydar Aliyev are on display here. The first floor of the Center houses photo studio and virtual classroom.

The arts and carpet-weaving circles are also functioning here. At the virtual classroom, the guests of the center will be able to familiarize themselves with life and activity of the national leader Heydar Aliyev.

President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done here and gave certain recommendations and instructions. The Head of State signed the Center`s guest book.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited Shabran region as a part of his northern region tour. The Head of State visited a monument to the national leader Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers on it.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed about improvement work around the monument. The rebuilding work was carried out and green area expanded in the square, where monument stands.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev opened the Siyazan Children`s Art School on Monday.
The Head of State cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the School and toured it.
President Ilham Aliyev was informed that the Siyazan Children`s Art School was built in 1990. In the past years since its creation the School has developed a reputation as one of the best art schools in the region. The School has recently moved from the shabby building to a new one.

The photo exhibition at the foyer of the School displays national leader Heydar Aliyev`s and President Ilham Aliyev`s meetings with art workers. The School was supplied with all necessary equipment. The facility with a total area of 4,800 square meters has 18 classrooms, conference and concert hall and a lunchroom. The School offers several classes in mugham, tar, kamancha, piano, accordion, painting and other disciplines.

The President listened to the school`s choir. The Head of State was informed that alumni of Siyazan Children`s Art School successfully represented Azerbaijan at different music festivals and painting contests in Russia, Belorussia, Czech Republic and other countries.  The Head of State wished every success to school`s staff and children.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has started his trip to Siyazan region. The Head of State visited the Heydar Aliyev Park and laid flowers to the monument of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the work done in the park. The park located in the Heydar Aliyev Avenue was opened in 2010. The green area of the park was expanded and fountains were installed here. The Head of State cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the Heydar Aliyev Center in the park.

The two-storeyed building covers 600 sq.m. of the area. The materials, photos and exhibits reflecting the course of life and activity of the national leader Heydar Aliyev are on display here. A bust of the national leader was erected on the ground floor of the center covering 300 sq.m of area. The foreign language circle, conference hall and service rooms equipped with up-to-date computers are functioning here.

The arts and carpet-weaving circles are also functioning on the first floor of the center. At the virtual classroom, the guests of the center will be able to familirize themselves with life and activity of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. President Ilham Aliyev saw the stands reflecting a new grand entrance to Siyazan region, Flag Square and sketch of the youth center.

President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done here and gave certain recommendations and instructions. The Head of State signed the center`s guest book. President Ilham Aliyev met with the public and medical staff of Siyazan region.
