International Young Leaders Forum kicks off in Baku

An opening ceremony of the International Forum of Young Leaders was organized by “AEGEE-Sumgayit” Public Union was held at the Olympic-Novkhani hotel on Thursday.

Moderator of the forum Azer Maharramov said that the event is the first project of the AEGEE-Sumgayit. He stressed the forum brought together representatives from Poland, the Netherlands, France, Latvia and Italy.

“The aim of the forum is to draw attention of youth to non-formal education, organize international youth exchanges and use their experience,” Maharramov said.

Addressing the ceremony, leading consultant of Sumgayit City Youth and Sport Head Office Ismayil Karimov spoke about the governmental youth policy.
He underlined the government pays special attention to the development of non-formal education and supports youth operating in this sphere.

“We decided to hold the forum every year in different countries of the world. France will host the forum next year,” Karimov said.

The forum brought together leaders from about 10 countries. They will hold discussions on the role of non formal education in youth activity during 5 days.
The project is realized with financial support of Azerbaijan Ministry Youth and Sport.
The forum will last till Monday.

European students forum AEGEE (Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l'Europe) is the biggest student association of the world. The organization gathers about 17 thousand youth from 243 cities of 43 countries.
