21 July 2011 [17:43] - TODAY.AZ
The situation in Azerbaijan, political parties and their activity, the situation with freedom of media and freedom of speech in the country are the norms, valued throughout the world, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department Chief Ali Hasanov said. He was commenting on Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's statement on the lack of a normal opposition and freedom of speech in Azerbaijan.

"The political opposition in Azerbaijan was not shot down in the parliament, ten people, who think differently and went to rally, were not shot as opposed to Armenia," Hasanov said. "Armenian officials, rich in these events, must not compare itself with Azerbaijan."

Hasanov said the foreign countries have repeatedly compared Azerbaijan with other former Soviet countries and have always preferred Azerbaijan, rather than Armenia.

President Sargsyan said at a meeting, dedicated to migration, there is no normal opposition and freedom of speech in Azerbaijan.
