Solemn reception held in US embassy in Azerbaijan

The solemn reception was held in the embassy of the United States of America in Azerbaijan on the occasion of 235th anniversary of the country. APA reports that in his speech, US ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said that his country had to overcome the long way for achievement the democratic standards and welfare level.

The diplomat said that though America is considered leader in the democracy sphere, one may say that it took lead from Azerbaijan. Thus, Azerbaijan gave the electoral law to the women before the US. Touching the bilateral relation, Bryza said that his country assessed Azerbaijan as a reliable partner. As regards the settlement of Karabakh conflict, the ambassador underlined that he will do bests for settlement of this conflict.

Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov, who delivered a speech on behalf of Azerbaijani government, said that the relations between the two countries were dynamically developing and it surrounds the trade, energy cooperation joint fight against terrorism and the other spheres. Sharifov said that Azerbaijan was expecting the US’s efforts in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
