A rude mistake occurred in an article published by the magazine `Atlas. World in your hands`.
Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry is investigating information about distortion of the map of Azerbaijan by De Agostini publishing house, where Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is indicated as part of Armenia.
The No36 edition of the magazine `Atlas. World in your hands` publishes an article on Iran and fixes the map of the region around Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia and other neighbors. A rude mistake occurred in the map-the publishing house `grants` Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to Armenia.
“In this connection, the Crimean Azerbaijani community has sent a letter to the publishing house De Agostini (Russia) that releases a magazine with the demand to publish the explanation”, head of the Azerbaijani community of Crimea Rahim Humbatov said. In the answer to the letter of the Crimean Azerbaijani community, the publishing house says that Atlas No 36 devotes a column to Iran, indicating the physical map of this state (Iran), while all neighbor countries are indicated schematically.
It seems that to smooth down their scandalous mistake, the publishing house says that the `Detailed map of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic within Azerbaijan Republic will be published in No 72 edition in the due column on Azerbaijan, that is in a few months.
“It is needless to say that such a freewill treatment of the map of the world no matter whether it is done on purpose or through ignorance does not make an honor to any edition and naturally caused resentment with many Crimean Azerbaijanis who called me. No doubt that if Azerbaijan published the map of Russia without the Kuril isles or Kamchatka, Russians would also be outraged”, he said.
The multinational company De Agostini publishes in more than 39 countries, releasing over 250 different editions with the annual turnover of more than a billion of euros.
