May 28th declared Azerbaijan national day in Miami-Dade County

Miami-Dade County, Florida, has declared the 28th of May as Azerbaijan national day.

A proclamation of the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners, says Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence were recognized by the United Nations. It says Azerbaijan`s area is 88,610 square meters, including Garabagh region and Nakhchivan exclave.

The proclamations calls American Azerbaijanis “an ethnic community with a recognized presence in Miami-Dade County, that is represented in the State of Florida by the Azerbaijan-American Council, and is actively contributing to the regional diversity, intercultural understanding, peace and prosperity of our society”.

The proclamation used the word “region” instead of “enclave” when referring to Garabagh.
