Political scientist: If document is not signed at Kazan meeting, question of military operations can come to agenda

If a document is not signed at the meeting of presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia to be held in Kazan in late June, the question of military operations can come to the agenda, the director of the Center for Political Innovation and Technology Mubariz Ahmedoglu said to a press conference.

"If a document is not signed, the question of military operations can come to the agenda. That is, Azerbaijan intends to start a war with the Armenians, with the consent and in certain sense, with Moscow's support. Azerbaijan is seriously preparing for war. Let the Armenians not forget about this scenario of development of the situation," said Ahmedoglu.

According to him, the psychological situation in Armenia on the eve of the Kazan meeting creates conditions for signing the "basic principles" of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.

"The negotiations around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict approach its logical conclusion. Until now, Armenia has not had a serious position that can withstand the Kazan meeting or condemning it. And the public of Armenia has got tired of waiting for Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement. Irrespective of the reason, the situation in the Armenian society can influence the settlement of the conflict. But the situation in Armenia still does not indicate that the leadership of this country is ready for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement and that Serzh Sarkisyan will sign the document in Kazan," said Ahmedoglu.

He said Azerbaijan is ready for signing and not signing the document in Kazan.

According to Ahmedoglu, Armenia is trying to create a tense situation around the Caucasus region. Armenia wants to use as instrument even Iran, on which it depends.
