Azerbaijan Parliament's Speaker meets Uzbek Defense Minister

Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament (Milli Majlis) Ogtay Asadov has met today Uzbek Defense Minister Kabul Berdiyev.

Asadov said Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan had ancient cultural, religious and historical friendly relations.

He underlined the role of the two countries' presidents in development of bilateral relationship. The Speaker added numerous documents were signed during reciprocal visits of the two presidents. "These documents contribute to expansion of bilateral cooperation in military sphere, as well."

Asadov also spoke of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and thanked the Uzbek people and government for supporting his country's position on the issue.
He also praised the inter-parliamentary ties.

Berdiyev, in turn, said he saw great development in Azerbaijan since his first visit to the country in 2009.

The Minister noted his country was interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in all spheres, including development of military industrial potential.

He said the two countries had intergovernmental agreement on military cooperation. Berdiyev pointed out the purpose of his visit to Azerbaijan was to exchange views on expansion of cooperation between the two countries.

They also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
