FM: Azerbaijan is interested in strong and independent Georgia

Strong, successful and independent Georgia is part of the national security of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said after his meeting with the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament on Monday.

"Exactly such Georgia meets the interests of our country," Mammadyarov said.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister is on an official visit to Tbilisi. Meetings were held with the Foreign Minister of Georgia Grigol Vashadze and Chairman of Parliament David Bakradze. Also a meeting is scheduled with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili.

Mammadyarov expressed satisfaction with the results of the meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, noting that it was possible to discuss the entire spectrum of bilateral relations.

Bakradze, in turn, stressed that at the meeting it was possible to discuss the issues, including political and economic.

"Every year, relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan become increasingly active. We have been successfully cooperating in the field of energy, as well as in the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars," he said.
