Armenian provocation prevented in South Korea

06 June 2011 [12:14] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry and a number of travel agencies from the country were represented by "Kiosk of the Azerbaijan Republic" at the 24th International Tourism Fair, held in the South Korean capital Seoul on June 2-5, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Republic of Korea said.

At the exhibition the embassy employees revealed that Azerbaijan’s occupied towns Shusha and Khankendi were indicated along the tourism routes to Armenia in one of the brochures of the Armenian tourism company "Armintour". In response, the embassy immediately sent an appeal to the organizing committee of the exhibition and held a meeting with the president of "KOTFA", which is the organizing company of the exhibition. The embassy said that the organization of tourism routes to Azerbaijan’s occupied territories is contrary to international law and violates the country’s territorial integrity. The embassy asked to remove these brochures.

The Korean side stressed that Azerbaijan's position is clear and distribution of such brochures is unacceptable. Also, the Korean side claimed that these brochures will be removed from the exhibition, as well as their distribution, in other international exhibitions scheduled for this year in Korea (for example at the 14th International Tourism Exhibition in Busan).

The brochures have not been seen since the embassy’s inspection of the Armenian kiosk.
