Azerbaijani President congratulates his Georgian counterpart

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter of congratulation to the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, the Azerbaijani President's official website reported.

"On my behalf and on behalf of the Azerbaijani people, I congratulate you and all your people on the national holiday of your country - the Day of restoration of the state independence.

Azerbaijan and Georgia are connected by strong friendly and good neighborhood traditions having deep historical roots. Today these traditions have become richer and reflect the will of our nations. I am sure that we will continue joint efforts towards improvement of the bilateral cooperation between our friendly countries and effective cooperation within the regional organizations and projects," the letter said.

Aliyev wished Saakashvili good health, happiness and success in his activities, and the friendly people of Georgia - peace and prosperity.
