UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres held a press conference on the outcomes of his visit to Azerbaijan. Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the State Committee on Deals of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Ali Hasanov also attended the press conference.

UN representative regarded the work done by the Azerbaijani government to improve the living conditions of the refugees and internally displaced persons as "the activity having no analogue in the world". High Commissioner noted that the UN intends to help Azerbaijan even after Armenia and Azerbaijan sign peace agreement.

António Guterres said High Commissioner’s Office appealed to the donors to build houses for the refugees in Armenia. He attributed it to the limited financial resources of Armenia.

António Guterres refuted the reports that the High Commissioner’s Office functions in Nagorno Karabakh.

"We do not and can not have any ties," he said.

Al Hasanov underlined that the visit of the UN High Commissioner has got rather political than humanitarian importance.

"The world will be aware of the problems of the Azerbaijani internally displaced persons, their solution," he said.
