EP President to give explanations on EP resolution

The European Parliament is not only the legislative body, but also an organization making decision on one or another issue and criticizing even countries within the EU, Head of the EU delegation in Baku Roland Kobia said today.

Kobia said the European Parliament acts as a completely independent structure, and President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek will give explanations on the resolution at the upcoming meeting with representatives of the Azerbaijani government on May 20.

Kobia said such resolutions are not of negative character. Where criticism exists, open dialogue is alongside, which is useful for both sides.

The European parliament adopted a critical resolution on the human rights and democracy situation in Azerbaijan on May 12.
