Foreigners to pay fee to use Azerbaijani folklore

Foreign citizens will be required to pay a fee to use Azerbaijani folklore.

The Azerbaijani parliament approved today additions and amendments to the Law on "Legal Protection of the Samples of Azerbaijani Folklore."

These additions will prevent the plundering of folklore, Parliamentary Cultural Committee Chairman Nizami Jafarov said while presenting the document.

According to the proposed amendment, legal and physical entities will be obliged to get permission from the government and to pay for samples of folklore for commercial purposes.


The function of giving authorization may be transferred to the Copyright Protection Agency.
