
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has received the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Tina Kaidanow.
Kaidanow said that the U.S. attaches special importance to the cooperation with Azerbaijan, and is interested in the development of relations with the country, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's press service reported.
Kaidanow stated that the U.S., as one of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, wants speedy settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and said that her country is ready to contribute to this process. In addition, the United States supports the speedy achievement of positive progress in settling the conflict.
In his turn, Mammadyarov said that Russian-mediated meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers was held on April 22 in Moscow within the negotiations on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The minister said the current status quo is not acceptable.
He mentioned the importance of restoration of the communications for the establishment of sustainable peace and stability in the region, and underlined that the main condition for it is the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
