
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Tina S. Kaidanow.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Mrs. Kaidanow noted that US gives importance to the cooperation with Azerbaijan and interested in the development of relations with this country.
She underlined that the US, as one of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, wanted the quick settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and said that her country was ready to contribute to this process and supported the achievement of positive progress in the settlement of the conflict.
In his turn, Mammadyarov noted that Russian-mediated meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers was held on April 22 within the negotiations on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The minister said current status quo is not acceptable.
He noted the importance of restoration of the communications for the establishment of sustainable peace and stability in the region, and underlined that the main condition for it is the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
They also exchanged view on the other various bilateral, regional and global topics at the meeting.
