16 April 2011 [10:46] - TODAY.AZ
Iran’s political and economic ties with Azerbaijan and Turkey are at a high level and will continue to improve in future, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi reported in Urmiah, the Iranian state news agency IRNA reported.

"We will try to simplify the customs procedures among the three countries and solve even most insignificant problems in this sphere", Salehi reported upon his arrival in Urmiah to attend a trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran on Saturday.

"The issues of simplification of trade procedures, and combating drugs smuggling, human trafficking and terrorism will also be examined at the meeting", said Salehi.

The three Foreign Ministers - Elmar Mamedyarov, Ahmet Davudoglu and Ali Akbar Salehi - will meet in Iranian town of Urmiah on Saturday. The Ministers will sign a Memorandum of cooperation in the customs field and attend the opening ceremony of a new checkpoint at the Iranian-Turkish border.

The Foreign Ministers of the three countries held a trilateral meeting in Istanbul last December. At a meeting held at the sidelines of a summit of the heads of states and governments of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states, it was decided to conduct such meetings permanently with the aim of examination of ways of solution of regional problems.

It was then decided to conduct the next trilateral meeting in Iran.
