The opening of the airport illegally built in Azerbaijan’s town of Khankendi occupied by Armenia has been postponed, spokesman for the separatist regime of Nagorno Karabakh David Babayan said, Kavkazski Uzel website reported.
The opening of Khankendi airport was reportedly scheduled for May 9. Babayan said the airport is ready, but the opening is postponed because of technical issues.
"This is a very complicated process. The airport should be completely ready so that there are no technical problems. But the airport will be opened this year," he said.
David Babayan underlined that the postponement of the opening was not connected with Azerbaijan’s demands.
The Azerbaijani side said the flights are illegal, necessary steps will be taken to prevent it.
