Armenian president says he will be the first to fly to Khankendi airport in Karabakh

Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan said he would be the first passenger of the first Yerevan-Khankendi flight.

Armenia Today reported that commenting on the Azerbaijan’s statements to shoot down aircrafts heading to Khankendi, Sargsyan said "population of Nagorno Karabakh has a right to use air transport". He said Armenia would try to reach accord on the issue with the international organizations.

The airport in the occupied territory of Azerbaijan is planned to be opened on May 9. Baku said according to the Azerbaijani legislation, airspace over the occupied territories of the country is considered as no-fly zone. Azerbaijan informed the International Civil Aviation Organization about its position on this issue.
