The UAE appreciates Azerbaijan's position on the peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said during the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov , the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.
During the meeting, Nahyan said the UAE supports the candidacy of Azerbaijan's for non-permanent membership in the U.N. Security Council in 2012-2013.
The UAE Foreign Minister said it hopes to open an embassy in Azerbaijan. He said the ambassador to Azerbaijan will be appointed soon.
The Azerbaijani foreign minister emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches special attention to its relations with Arab countries.
"Azerbaijani leadership focuses on improving the relations with Arab countries in all fields. Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with the League of Arab States and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf ," Mammadyarov said.
The ministers discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, particularly in the political, economic and investment fields.

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met with Foreign
Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Al-Nahyan as
part of his official visit to the UAE. The ministers underlined
bilateral ties are developing between the two countries in the fields of
politics, economy, science, health, education, culture, tourism.

pointed out relationship with the Arab world occupies an important
place in Azerbaijan's foreign policy. He underlined the government of
Azerbaijan pays a special attention to development of relations in all
spheres. The Azeri top diplomat noted Azerbaijan is keen on cooperation
with the Arab league and Gulf Cooperation Council, stressing the need
for UAE's supporting the country's efforts in this direction.

Abdullah bin Al-Nahyan welcomed Azerbaijan's position to solve the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by peaceful means. He said the UAE backs
Azerbaijan`s candidacy for the UN Security Council non-permanent
membership in 2012-2013. The UAE Minister thanked Azerbaijan for
allowing to open the UAE's embassy in Baku, adding the ambassador would
be appointed shortly.
Following the meeting, the ministers signed
a memorandum of understanding on cooperation against trafficking in
human beings between the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan and UAE
National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking.
