Azerbaijani Defense Ministry: Armenian soldiers killed in shootout between each other

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry refuted the Armenian side’s report about the death of two Armenian militaries as a result of the ceasefire violations.

A dispute among soldiers serving at the Armenian armed forces military unit in the occupied Asgeran region led to the shooting. During the incident occurred on March 17, two Armenian soldiers died on the spot from bullet wounds. One soldier was taken to the hospital. The soldier is still in a coma, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s spokesman Eldar Sabiroglu said.

"They disseminated such baseless information in order to exclude the Azerbaijani child’s murder from the agenda. Armenia tries to draw a veil over infanticide image, formed in the international community. No ceasefire violation was recorded in the direction mentioned by Armenians," Sabiroglu said.

Expressing his attitude towards the ceasefire violations , Sabiroglu stressed that Azerbaijan is trying to maximally observe the ceasefire.

"Azerbaijan has to open return fire only in case of ceasefire violation by the Armenian Armed Forces ," Sabiroglu pointed out.
