Ukraine's defense minister holds fruitful talks during his visit to Azerbaijan

The meetings that the Defense Minister of Ukraine Mikhail Yezhel conducted with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh and Defense Minister, Colonel General Safar Abiyev covered a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, the official website of the Ministry reported.

"The talks with the leadership of the Azerbaijan Republic have been fruitful. Firstly, we discussed issues concerning military cooperation between the armed forces of both countries, as well as the modernization of weapons and military equipment," the minister said.

The minister said that the Azerbaijani side expressed its interest in the modernization of weapons, military equipment manufactured during Soviet-era at the enterprises of Ukrainian military-industrial complex.

According to the Defense Minister, today work is conducted by a bilateral commission on military cooperation, representatives of which in October last year held the first meeting and outlined a plan of action in this regard.

Yezhel also stressed that Ukraine has a powerful scientific, technical and industrial potential in the military-technical sphere.

"Relevant military institutions are constantly working on the development of new weapons systems and military equipment," said Yezhel.

Upon the program of visit to Azerbaijan, the representatives of the Ukrainian military delegation headed by Defense Minister Michael Yezhel will visit the Training Center and the Military Academy of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.

Official visit of the Ukrainian military delegation headed by Defense Minister of Ukraine Mikhail Yezhel to Azerbaijan will continue until March 18.
