Azerbaijani-Hungarian political consultations held in Budapest

The Azerbaijani-Hungarian political consultations were held in Budapest. The negotiations were held during the visit of Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov to Hungary on February 28 - March 2, the Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary said.

Khalafov met with Deputy Chairman of the Hungarian parliament Lejak Shándor, State Secretary Zsolt Nemeth, Assistant Secretary of State, Political Director Peter Sztaray, co-chairman of Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Rose Nat, the head of the Friendship Group of the Hungarian Parliament Marton Dendesi and members of the group.

The bilateral political, economic and cultural ties, cooperation in energy security were discussed.

A briefing of Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov was held at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Hungary for representatives of state bodies of Hungary, foreign diplomats accredited in the country and journalists.

 The meeting was opened by Azerbaijani Ambassador in Hungary Vilayat Guliyev. He spoke about the purpose of the visit of Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister in Hungary and raised the issues of dynamically developing relations between the two countries.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister touched on three major themes - the role of Azerbaijan in strengthening Europe's energy security, the situation in the South Caucasus region and the current progress of the negotiation process to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Khalafov said that the Azerbaijani-Hungarian bilateral relations are developing dynamically. The bilateral ties in economic, political and cultural fields are of great importance.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister also gave an interview to the authoritative Hungarian TV channel Duna TV.
