
Azerbaijani Embassy in Romania will hold a series of events dedicated to the 19th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy, the Azerbaijani embassy in the country told Trend.
The activities related to the genocide in Khojaly, are scheduled to be conducted at the Romanian-American University, as well as the building of the legal department of the prestigious university of the country - the University of Bucharest. These events will be attended by the representatives of Romania to the EU institutions, including the European Parliament, local intellectuals, current and former senators, the Azerbaijanis living and studying in Romania, representatives of the Turkic-Tatar community, Azerbaijanis of Iran, Romanian youth who receive scholarships named after Heydar Aliyev, staff of embassies and international missions accredited in Romania, as well as organizations specialized in human rights.
To illustrate the consequences of Armenia's occupation policy, photo stands will be established at the buildings where the event will be organized to reflect the horrors of Khojali tragedy. In addition, among participants of the events there will be distributed pamphlets from the series "True facts about Karabakh" prepared by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the books "Khojaly genocide (in the documents, facts and foreign press)", "Khojaly tragedy" (based on materials prepared by the Embassy) in Romanian, "Armenian myth. Armenian extremism: its causes and historical content" (Erich Feigl).
The Armenian military forces committed genocide in Khojaly on Feb. 26, 1992. More than 600 people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. A total of 1,000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. 8 families were annihilated, 130 children lost one parent, and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1,275 peaceful residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.
