"OSCE report on parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan is biased"

Final Report of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of OSCE on parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan is not objective, deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), MP Mubariz Gurbanli said in an interview with the party's official website.

"Azerbaijan held free and democratic parliamentary elections in November 2010," he added.

According to him, observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Council of Europe, EU and other international organizations positively assessed the electoral process and voting in their statements.

"During a preliminary report in an interview with media, the observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights clearly stated their positive opinion on the elections. That is, in their individual statements, the observers from the Office positively assessed the elections. But now we see that the final report of the organization reflects thoughts that do not correspond to preliminary estimates," he added.

According to him, biased reporting is due to various causes.

"The main reason is that members of the monitoring mission could not freely include their views in the final document. And it tells that some circles in the OSCE are trying to manipulate elections in various countries and their results for certain goals," said MP.

According to Gurbanli, such case does not take place for the first time. In November last year, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights released a final report on parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan held on Nov. 7, 2010.
