Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission on Thursday considered an appeal on cancellation of parliamentary election results in some electoral commissions.
"The appeal on alleged violations in the 19th Narimanov first district election commission was thoroughly investigated by the CEC," said the CEC secretary Natig Mammadov. According to him, many observers involved in the polling stations of this constituency were involved in the investigation and did not confirm the violations.
CEC secretary said that those appealing attempted to mislead members of the CEC with false facts. In addition, Mammadov said that to investigate all complaints received, votes were counted again in the 81st Beylagan district commission and no discrepancies with the official figures were found. Both appeals were not satisfied.
Azerbaijan held the parliamentary elections Nov. 7. The voter turnout hit about 50.14 percent (roughly 2.48 million voters) in Azerbaijan, the CEC's Elections Information Center told Trend.
The CEC reported that 690 candidates were running for the parliamentary elections. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005.
