No serious violations were recorded during the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova told Trend.

"Employees of the Ombudsman office monitored the elections practically in all districts and all prisons in Baku," she said.
Voting ended in the parliamentary elections at 19:00 local time. According to Suleymanova, the electoral process in prison was also observed by the media representatives, and no violations were identified. According to the Ombudsman, although wide enlightenment activities were carried out before the elections, during the elections they had experienced moments when observers do not fully know their rights.
The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) reported that 690 candidates are running for parliamentary elections.
Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
