Azerbaijani ombudsperson meets NATO coordinator on South Caucasus

Azerbaijan's Commissioner for Human Rights Elmira Suleymanova has met NATO coordinator on the South Caucasus Zbigniew Ribatski. Ribatski praised the NATO-Azerbaijan cooperation. He highlighted the bilateral cooperation under the Partnership for Peace programme, in particular, the preparation and holding of courses and trainings for servicemen.

Suleymanova highlighted the Azeri government`s work to promote and implement the National Action Plan on Protection of Human Rights. She said the Office of the Ombudsman was defined as a National Preventive Mechanism in connection with Azerbaijan`s joining the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention Against Torture.
