Emmett Richard Art MacAfee appointed Azerbaijan's honored consul to U.S. Santa Fe, New Mexico

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev appointed Mr. Emmit Richard “Art” McHaffie Azerbaijan’s Honorary Consul to Santa Fe, New Mexico, on October 25. Mr. McHaffie’s appointment marks the first time the Government of Azerbaijan designates an honorary consul in the United States and reflects the policy of expanding and strengthening the relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United States of America, as well as an outreach to the western states.

Mr. McHaffie, a distinguished energy expert, brings a wealth of private sector and international experience to his position. His experience abroad includes a successful posting in Azerbaijan in 1994-97. Azerbaijan has used the institution of honorary consuls sparingly. Therefore, in his new capacity, Mr. McHaffie joins a very limited number of honorary consuls appointed by Azerbaijan.

The Consulate General of Azerbaijan congratulates Honorary Consul McHaffie on his appointment and wishes him every success in contributing to friendship between Azerbaijan and the United States.
