Baku hosts roundtable on global challenges in regional context

The Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Azerbaijan (SAM) hosted a roundtable called “Global Challenges in a Regional Context” on October 22. The event was held as part of Annual Symposium of International Relations Scholars under the theme “The South Caucasus in a changing world” launched in Baku.

The roundtable saw various presentations by international experts, including international development issues in relations to South Caucasus and Azerbaijan, geopolitics of conflicts and imperatives of regional cooperation, concerns of Central and Eastern Europe about the contemporary evolution of international relations, energy and security issues.

Speakers, including Elkhan Nuriyev, SAM`s director, Abdul Basit, President and Chancellor of Pakistan`s Preston University, Hans Koecher, Professor and Chair for Political Philosophy at the Austrian University of Innsbruck and Lulian Chifu, Bucharest National School of Political and Administrative Studies stressed importance of the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
