Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has received British Minister of State for Europe David Lidington.
The British minister said it was his first visit to Azerbaijan, saying it made a good impression on him. Mr. Lidington said he was aware of the Azerbaijani government`s successes. He praised the Azerbaijan-Great Britain relations, saying the two countries enjoyed strong and developing political, economic and security cooperation.
President Ilham Aliyev said the two countries` relations were successfully developing in a variety of fields.
The Azerbaijani President praised the fact Mr. Lidington was accompanied by a group of businessmen, adding there was a growing interest in working together not only in energy but also other spheres.
The Azerbaijani leader said the British minister`s visit would be a success, expressing confidence it will give impetus to strengthening the partnership in all fields.
The President of Azerbaijan and the British Minister also discussed settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and Azerbaijan`s cooperation with the European Union and Euroatlantic structures.
