"PACE has always had unbiased attitude towards important socio-political events in Azerbaijan"

Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Ogtay Asadov met with the members of the pre-election mission on parliamentary elections of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), parliament’s press office reported.

Speaker noted that Azerbaijan was having effective cooperation with the Council of Europe, official Baku highly appreciated the efforts of the organization for the development of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan.

Ogtay Asadov said the parliament and relevant bodies were taking necessary steps for holding democratic, transparent elections, underlined the importance of the meetings of PACE observation mission in Baku.

“Unlike some international organizations, this organization has always expressed unbiased attitude towards important socio-political events in our country. The Azerbaijani authorities are interested in holding democratic elections in the country. We believe that the elections will be held in line with the European standards. We hope the observers will make sure of it and have an unbiased approach to this important event,” he said.

Head of the mission Paul Wille said the aim of the visit was to study the socio-political situation and pre-election processes in the country, note the achievements in this field.
