UK Minister of State for Europe David Lidington arrives in Azerbaijan

UK Minister of State for Europe, MP David Lidington is paying an official visit to Azerbaijan, UK embassy in Azerbaijan said.He is accompanied by a delegation of British businessmen.

The Minister is expected to meet a number of key figures in the Government of Azerbaijan, including the President HE Mr. Ilham Aliyev, as well as with the Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Economic Development, and Transport. He will also meet key figures in leading Azerbaijani businesses.

Mr Lidington will give a speech at the Azerbaijan University of Languages on Azerbaijan and its role in Europe, followed by a question and answer session with a group of students.

The Minister will use his visit to further our strong bilateral relations and to bring British and Azerbaijani businesspeople together to find new opportunities to support prosperity in both countries.

Ahead of his first official visit to Azerbaijan, the Minister said: "Although it will be my first visit to Azerbaijan, I am aware that relations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom go back a long way and I am looking forward to building on this strong relationship in the years to come."
