Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: New visas rules does not apply to Turkish citizens

“The procedure on granting visas to foreigners and stateless persons coming to Azerbaijan Republic does not apply to Turkish citizens”, Spokesperson for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Elkhan Polukhov said.

Item 2.1 of the order issued by Azerbaijani president on changing the rules reads that foreigners and stateless persons can apply directly to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry for visa only when they come to Azerbaijan Republic: - in cases envisaged in the interstate or intergovernmental contracts of Azerbaijan Republic.

Such contract exists between Azerbaijan and Turkey and that is why, Turkish citizens may obtain a visa directly from consular post of Azerbaijani FM at the airport.
