11 October 2010 [09:46] - TODAY.AZ
The reports suggesting citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Macedonia become victims of human trafficking and forced labour in Azerbaijan are groundless, national coordinator for human trafficking, Deputy Interior Minister Vilayet Eyvazov said, speaking at the Milli Majlis (Parliament).

The national coordinator said Serbaz Layihe and Tikinti invited 750 specialists from these countries to work. They were provided with free medical insurance, appartments in Baku and Mingachevir, vehicles, meals and salary ranging 2000-2500.

The Deputy Minister noted the investigation revealed no cases of grave violation of rights of workers. However, some employees were sent home because of violating internal discipline.

Being discontent, they told their national media outlets that their fellow countrymen are working in hard conditions in Azerbaijan. Diplomatic representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia met with specialists working at the company and inquired about working conditions and salaries. Migrants signed a collective statement outlining the lack of claims to the company.
