
On the day of parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, the Press Council will form a monitoring group consisting of board members of the Council, Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov said at a meeting with the analyst on media monitoring mission of the OSCE Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Rasto Kuzelev.
"In the near future, the Council intends to monitor the materials of country's leading media outlets regarding the elections," said Amashov, Council's press-service reported Friday.
At the meeting, Amashov spoke about activities of the Council. According to him, during the election period, the Council focuses on issues related to coverage of the elections by journalists.
"The Press Council will create a hotline on the election day. This regime allows journalists to promptly report any problems during the election coverage. In these elections, the Council will once again act in this direction," said Amashov.
Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will be held on Nov. 7.
