MP: Azerbaijan's Family Code needs to be ammended

"The parliamentary committees have been working on the bill on amendments to the Family Code. Adoption of these changes is important from the standpoint of improving the response to early marriage," she said.

There is a need to amend the Family Code to deal effectively with serious genetic diseases among children caused by marriages of relatives, Pashayeva said.

"Azerbaijani First Lady and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva has been carrying out serious programs to help children suffering from such diseases. Increase in the number of these diseases provoked a lot of serious problems. Therefore, it is necessary to amend the Family Code from this point of view," Pashayeva said.
