Azerbaijan to toughen control over migration processes

Azerbaijan tightens the control over the migration processes due to the increasing attractiveness of the country for foreigners, Head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration's Department for Work with Law-Enforcement Agencies Fuad Alasgarov told journalists today.

"Azerbaijan's economic development, political stability in the country, tolerance of the Azerbaijani people and other factors make Azerbaijan an attractive country for foreigners," Alasgarov said. "Therefore, we strengthen the control over the migration processes."

Alasgarov said there were established appropriate mechanisms and an independent immigration database in the migration system and the work is underway to improve the interagency information-retrieval system "Entry/departure and registration".
