The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) and OSCE Observation Mission have discussed the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.

The OSCE Observation Mission delegation led by Ambassador Odri Glover met with CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov today, the CEC said.
Panahov said the commission pays great attention to compliance with the principles of transparency during the preparation and holding of the elections and takes the necessary legal steps to achieve a transparent election process.
Glover familiarized with the activities undertaken by the CEC on the parliamentary elections. Panahov briefed the guests on the work undertaken to define the voter lists, the program aimed to educate subjects of the election, the current pre-election situation and actions planned.
Glover said the OSCE long-term observation mission consisting of 22 people will arrive in Azerbaijan on September 30 and the short-term observers - on November 3.
The next parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous elections were held in November 2005. Elections to the legislative in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies across the country.
