27 September 2010 [09:00] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has expressed official Baku's desire to host the 13th summit of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), which is slated for 2014.
Mammadyarov made the proposal at an annual meeting of Foreign Ministers of OIC member-states in New York.

The Azeri FM asked OIC member-states to support the country’s initiative, saying “we have been a success in hosting several OIC events”.

“The holding of the summit in Baku will strengthen the OIC's image and role in Caspian, Black Sea and CIS countries.”

Mammadyarov also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, praising OIC member states, in particular Secretary-General Ekmeledin Inhasoglu, for supporting his country's “just position on the problem”.
