Members of Azerbaijani Milli Majlis' working group on Azerbaijan-Italy interparliamentary ties met their counterparts at the Italian Senate on Friday. Head of the working group Azar Karimli said relationship between Azerbaijan and Italy was deeply rooted.

Karimli recalled national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev`s visit to Italy in 1995, saying documents signed during the trip contributed to deepening bilateral relations. He also added President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Italy in 2005 and 2008 played significant role in strengthening the bilateral ties.

Karimli highly appreciated Italy`s “unbiased stance” on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Head of the Italy-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group Rossana Boldi said parliaments play important role in development of relationship between the two countries. She said her country supports peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
