Detained member of World Azerbaijanis' Congress released in Iran

Member of the World Azerbaijanis’ Congress Management Board, executive director of the World Azerbaijanis’ Coordination Council, Doctor of Philosophy Eliza Ismayilova, who was detained in Iran, has been released.

Press service of the World Azerbaijanis’ Congress told APA that on September 22 Eliza Ismayilova came to Tabriz to his father-in-law’s for medical examination. Iranian law-enforcement bodies called Ismayilova to the police office saying there was a technical problem in her passport. The misunderstanding was eliminated after the Azerbaijani Consulate General was informed about it. After that Eliza Ismayilova was released.

Ismayilova is continuing her treatment and will soon return to Azerbaijan. The reports that Ismayilova was kidnapped are false. Reports spread yesterday that Eliza Ismayilova was detained in Tabriz by the officers of Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and National Security.
