Azerbaijan plans informational sessions on elections

Azerbaijani Presidential Administration and the Central Election Commission (CEC) will launch informational sessions on preventing illegal interference in the upcoming parliamentary elections on Sept. 20 upon the initiative of the OSCE Baku Office. The sessions will be organized for the heads of executive powers and the chairmen of district election commissions, the CEC reported today.

The first sessions will be held in Baku and the surrounding areas on Sept. 20. The event will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the Landmark Business Center's Rotonda Hall. Sessions will also be held in Shirvan on Sept. 21, Mingachevir on Sept. 22 and Nakhchivan on Sept. 24.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies.
