Organizing Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov visit to Greece is an important element of the "road map" for developing Azerbaijani-Greek bilateral relations, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Greece Rahman Mustafayev said.
"The Greek FM invited his Azerbaijani counterpart to pay an official visit to Athens," he said.
"After coordinating the terms, they will start to prepare the program and agenda for his visit. The dates of the visit will be deteremined through diplomatic channels."
"Together with the Greek side, we attach great importance to this visit," Mustafayev said.
"Political cooperation on the bilateral and regional levels and the interaction of our diplomats in international organizations are important issues in structuring our bilateral ties. More importantly, the last official visit of such a high level - setting aside mutual visits by various ministers and their participation in various conferences - was made by Greek Foreign Minister Theodoros Pangalos in April 1997."
He added that interministerial consultations will also continue at the deputy FM level.
"Such political consultations are important because they stimulate the entire process of political dialogue and cooperation, and define the path of political cooperation," Mustafayev said.
