Azerbaijan's permanent representative elected chair of CoE Committee of Ministers' rapporteur group

Azerbaijan's permanent representative to the Council of Europe (CoE), ambassador Arif Mammadov was elected chair of the CoE Committee of Ministers' Rapporteur Group on Education, Culture, Sport, Youth and Environment, a source at Azerbaijan's permanent mission to the Council of Europe said.

The report notes that at a meeting of the Committee of Ministers under the number 1091 on Sept. 16 2010, Azerbaijan's permanent representative to the Council of Europe (CoE), ambassador Arif Mammadov was approved as the chair of CoE Committee of Ministers' Rapporteur Group on Education, Culture, Sport, Youth and Environment. He will serve as chair for 3 years.

"This appointment may be viewed as a positive assessment of Azerbaijan's active work in the Council of Europe in the fields of culture and intercultural dialogue, youth, sports and education. We remember that the CoE Conference of Culture Ministers on intercultural dialogue was held in Baku in December 2008, and soon Azerbaijan's capital will host the 18th Conference of CoE ministers responsible for sport. If to consider that in April next year Azerbaijan will host the World Forum for Intercultural Dialogue, we can say that this appointment assumes great importance for our country," according to the permanent mission.
