A total of 172 local observers have got registered for parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan so far, the Central Election Commission chairman Mazahir Panahov said.

"Currently, 155 candidates appealed the district election commission, and 131 received signature lists," said Panahov.
According to him, 5 more political parties expressed their desire to participate in the election, and thus their number reached 18. Authorized representatives of political parties were also approved at the meeting and changes were made to the composition of the 122nd Khankendi district election commission.
The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
