The Centers for Strategic Studies (CSR) of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have agreed on the establishment of the expert council to discuss bilateral cooperation, Kazakh CSR Director Bulat Sultanov told journalists in Baku on Tuesday.
The Council will meet once a year, presumably in Almaty and Baku in turn. Representatives of the council will develop proposals for the two governments on specific issues such as combating terrorism, drug trafficking and others, Sultanov said.
The first meeting of the Azerbaijani-Kazakh experts took place two years ago in Almaty, the second in the framework of Sultanov's current visit to Baku and the third will take place in spring or autumn next year in Almaty upon Kazakhstan's proposal. The expert council will be divided into three thematic groups, each of which will discuss military-technical, economic, environmental and humanitarian issues.
According to Sultanov, "the motto of the Kazakh CSR is to anticipate and prevent, and assist to the government". The joint council of experts can work on the same principle, he said.
Sultanov is on visit to Baku at the invitation of the Azerbaijani CSR.
