Armenians destroy nature of Azerbaijan's Gubadli region

Armenians have destroyed the nature of Azerbaijan's Gubadli region, the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry said.  

Prior to the occupation, forests covered 13,160 hectares of land in the region.

The Gubadli region, located between Karabakh and Zangezur mountain ranges, was established as an administrative unit in 1933.

The Armenian armed forces occupied the Gubadli region on Aug. 31, 1993. The region's area is 80,250 hectares.

The Gubadli State Nature Reserve, with rich flora and fauna, was located at an altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level and had an area of 20,000 hectares. Many rare and endangered animals and birds were under the protection here.

The region had tuff reserves at the Hajili deposit in the amount of 6,247 thousand m3, suitable for production of stone-cubes, clay deposits in the Khanlig village in the amount of 990 thousand m3 and the stones deposit Eyvazli (agate), with reserves of 1.1 tons and reserves of underground potable water supply of 84 thousand m3, located on the Hakari River.

Armenian invaders destroyed fine wood forests covering a huge area. The invaders also used the vast water reserves, rich with minerals and destroyed the beautiful natural sites differing with its unusual flora and fauna.
