Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry criticizes St. Petersburg proposals on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

22 July 2010 [15:45] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Elkhan Polukhov commented on Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement that “the parties were presented with new proposals in St. Petersburg and now Azerbaijan should respond to these proposals.”

“Today, the Azerbaijani side works based on the documents submitted by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in Athens in presence of two foreign ministers of the Minks Group co-chairing countries and U.S. Secretary of State Assistant,” Polukhov added.

‘This document is a fruit of work both by OSCE Minks Group co-chairs and meetings held between presidents of the two countries,” he noted.

According to Polukhov, in St. Petersburg the sides were presented with usual working proposals that are made often.

"However, these working proposals were prepared by one party only without following the Minsk Group format. The proposals made in St. Petersburg change the whole philosophy of the negotiation process thereby undermining the work carried out over the past six years and the fragile structure that was built in the course of these six years," Polukhov added.
