
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met today his Ukrainian counterpart Kostyantyn Hryshchenko. Following the meeting, the two ministers held a joint press conference.
Mammadyarov said the Ukrainian minister's visit would create an opportunity to elevate the relationship between the two countries to a new stage.
The minister noted they discussed during the meeting bilateral cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian, energy and other spheres.
Mammadyarov pointed out he briefed his Ukrainian counterpart on settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He added the conflict must be settled on the basis of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
Hryshchenko, in turn, said his country was keen on economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, particularly in transportation of energy recourses. The minister noted Ukraine attaches significant importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan.
On the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Ukrainian minister said his country regards that the problem must be settled on the basis of norms and principles of international law, in particular the principle of territorial integrity of borders.
The Minister underlined Ukraine was interested in establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, adding this would provide opportunities to solve both regional and global issues.
